PEER SUPPORT GROUP
Time for Me

Happy Mums x Diff-ability: Online Support Group
Support Group held on Teams – Online
7.30 – 8.30pm 21st of each Month
Because life would be boring if we were all the same.
In partnership with Diff-ability, this monthly online support group is a space created especially for mums of children with additional needs—whatever those needs may be. Whether your child has a formal diagnosis, you’re still navigating the process, or you’re simply looking for connection and understanding, you are warmly welcome here.
This group is part of Happy Mums’ wider network of peer support groups, and is designed for those who may not be able to attend in person due to location, work, childcare, or other commitments. It’s a chance to connect with others who truly understand the unique joys and challenges of parenting a child with additional needs.
When & Where
We meet on the 21st of each month from 7.30pm to 8.30pm via Microsoft Teams.
The date is a meaningful one—chosen to honour the 21st chromosome, which plays a role in Down syndrome. But this group is open to all mums, regardless of your child’s age, condition, or diagnosis status.
You don’t need a Teams account to join. Once you sign up, we’ll send you the login link each month. If you’re using a mobile device, you may need to download the app, but that’s all.
What to Expect
This is a relaxed, welcoming space. You don’t have to speak, attend every month, or even turn your camera on. Just come as you are.
Here’s how the session usually runs:
7.20pm: The facilitator opens the call early in case you’d like to settle in or chat one-to-one before the group begins.
7.30pm: We start by reading our Group Agreement, which helps set a safe and respectful tone.
Sharing Time: Anyone who wants to share is invited to do so. You can talk about how you’re feeling, what’s been going on, or just listen. The facilitator helps guide the conversation so everyone who wants to speak has the chance.
Peer Support: Other mums may offer encouragement, empathy, or share similar experiences. It’s about connection, not advice-giving.
8.30pm: We close the group gently. If there’s anything to follow up on—like links to resources or additional support—we’ll share them then or in a follow-up email.
Why It Matters
Parenting a child with additional needs can be isolating at times. This group is here to remind you that you’re not alone. It’s a space for honesty, solidarity, and shared understanding—where differences are embraced and every story matters.
